On larger trees the grapplesaw can be removed and rope slings installed.

This gives us a few advantages, we lose the weight of the grapplesaw and we gain capacity since the ropes are much lighter and stronger than the hydraulic grapple.

When the tree trunks get too large we can remove the grapple saw AND fly jib to further gain capacity.

We lose reach but gain significant capacity.

On larger trees, our bucket operator can manually make the cut instead of the grapplesaw. This is called a “mid-cut” and helps keep the longer picks balanced as the grapplesaw will keel to balance the weight.
